Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)
at A-1 Absolute Best Care
A-1 Absolute Best Care adheres to the guidelines set by the Louisiana Department of Health's regulation to implement an EVV system that follows the procedures explained in LAC 50:XXI. Chapter 142.
What is EVV?
EVV or Electronic Visit Verification is a system that electronically verifies specific service visits and records the precise times that the authorized services begin and end.
Authorized Services
EVV ensures clients are receiving the correct care they are eligible for. Authorized services remove any type of error related to the type care of a client needs.
Time Precision
EVV systems allow caregivers to clock-in and clock-out to accurately record the time spent with a client. The system should match with time recorded on A-1 ABC's Timesheets to verify that the visit met its requirements.
Safeguarding Clients
An EVV system solves the issue of safeguarding clients from fraudulent oversight. It increases security by requiring caregivers to sign in with user name and passwords in a geo-fenced location where the client is located.

Louisiana's Solution
Per FDA "The 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act), signed into law on December 13, 2016, is designed to help accelerate medical product development and bring new innovations and advances to patients who need them faster and more efficiently," (Commissioner, 2020). For A-1 Absolute Best Care and the state of Louisiana Waiver programs, this meant that an EVV system is now required to record client visits who were deemed eligible for Waiver services.
In December of 2016, the stated of Louisiana began to require Waiver programs and Medicaid providers (such as A-1 ABC) to implement an EVV system. The state provided and requires providers to utilize their EVV system, the Louisiana Services Reporting System, LaSRS.
